The FEDEA School Secondary Curriculum (ages 11 to 18) has two stages, Secondary A, which corresponds to Key Stage 3 (British Curriculum), for ages 11 to 14, and Secondary B, which is two years longer than Key Stage 4 (British Curriculum), for ages 14 to 18. These two stages lead to the GCSE exams.
Our experience has shown that our high-functioning students need at least two more years to prepare for their GCSE exams.
Our Secondary A Curriculum includes the teaching of the following subjects:
English, French, Spanish or German, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Communication and Social Skills, Art, Technology, Music, Physical Education and Sports (swimming, nordic walking, football, rollerblading, ice-skating, tennis).
Our Secondary B curriculum includes the same study subjects with the addition of:
Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The student’s behaviour is carefully managed during the whole school day
All students enrolled in our Secondary A and B classes have access to the FEDEA School Music Program. This program includes the history of music, music theory, listening and singing. The students also have the opportunity to study and become familiar with various wind instruments (saxophone, flute, trumpet), percussion instruments (drums, cajón) and string instruments (guitar, violin, cello, double bass, harp, piano).
FEDEA School can teach this curriculum to each secondary aged-student with autism, adapting it to his/her level, and he/she will follow it with pleasure and success !
Students with more limited academic aptitude are also taught all subjects of the FEDEA School Secondary Curriculum. The Secondary Curriculum is of course adapted to their level and is also age appropriate and very motivating in order to ensure progress.
